Bison are still considered wild animals so they are held on farms with much precaution. Fencing consists of 7 strands of high tensile electric wire.

In order to administer shots and medicine, the buffalo must be brought into an elaborate corral system consisting of pens that decrease in size and end in a round, steel holding pen which holds five buffalo. From the pen, the animals are let go one at a time into two small steel cages leading to a clamping system that literally holds the animal in a steel casing as they are worked on. Afterward, the animal is released and allowed to run out a series of pens back to the field.
