horse-pix-4Mountain Pleasure Horses are a beautiful, gentle breed—often compared in temperament to a Labrador Retriever. They are friendly and fun!

This breed has a natural
4-beat gate which gives a very smooth ride. Pleasure horses are a combination of Morgan and Tennessee Walker. Just watching them run is a pleasure!

horse-pix-5While they are bred in all colors, the most sought after is chocolate with a flaxen tail and mane.

In 1998, Steve purchased five brood mares, four of which were pregnant. That year, the mares gave birth to two colts, Samson and Caleb, and two fillies, Delilah and Lydia.

At present, the farm has 12 mares and 8 geldings. All the mares are bred yearly to show stallions.

There are two registrations connected with Mountain Pleasures Horses: Kentucky Mountain and Rocky Mountain. A horse can be bred to both depending on the ancestry. At Red Run Farm, several horses have double registry.

horse-pix-3Since the Mountain Pleasure Horse has such a good disposition, they are great for trail riding. The farm has a variety of trails and large fields and woods for riding in all seasons. In the winter, we enjoy hitching up our one-horse sleigh with bells for snowy outings.
